Our garlic is planted, grown, harvested and cured by hand. Each bulb is touched by human hands on its way into the dirt and on its way out! Because of this, we are able to offer you an extremely high quality bulb. We never use chemicals on our garlic or fields. Each bulb is hand-tied, hung for curing and then cleaned and inspected by hand shortly before being shipped directly to you from our farm. Shipping begins mid July and continues through August.

HARDNECK GARLIC- This brand new sampler pack contains 1/2LB of two outstanding varieties from the Turban family of garlic. Both of these garlics, Xian and Shantung, have big round cloves with anywhere from 6-8 cloves per head. They are absolutely gorgeous and worth growing for that quality alone but they also offer a wonderful earthy flavor and easy to peel cloves. So that you can try this interesting duo we are offering this sampler at a special price–you save $2/LB!
SOFTNECK GARLIC(Artichoke) – A mild tasting garlic variety developed by the California garlic industry, this is the very popular garlic that many people enjoy. Excellent shelf life. Perfect for people who like a more subtle flavor.
FLAVOR: Mild. Slightly sweet.
HARDNECK GARLIC (Purple Stripe) – A versatile garlic said to be one of the best garlics for cooking and has in fact won several “Best for Baking” contests. Holds its shape and flavor well when cooked. Originally from the Republic of Georgia. Stores well. Regarded by some as the best all around garlic variety. Outstanding color.
FLAVOR: Distinctive and lingering, perfect for the garlic connoisseur.
HARDNECK GARLIC (Turban) – An Asian garlic originating from Southeast area of China. Beautiful striped purple and white skin. Medium sized, long cloves averaging 8 per bulb.
Reliable producer. Harvest early to mid-season.
FLAVOR: Fruity and mild but may grow hotter in some climates.
ALLIUM – It’s an imposter! Elephant garlic is actually a type of leek not garlic, but it is beloved for its giant mildly garlic flavored cloves. It can be stored at room temperature for up to ONE YEAR and it resists virtually all garden insects and disease. Plant like regular garlic.
FLAVOR: Mild garlic.
HARDNECK GARLIC(Porcelain) – A pink garlic originating from Germany. This beauty sports satiny white and generally flawless skin. Can use as a baker or for eating raw. Averages 4-6 medium cloves and stores well. LIMITED QUANTITY FOR 2012.
FLAVOR: Excellent mid range flavor when eaten raw or baked.
HARDNECK GARLIC (Porcelain) – A favorite garlic in the Northeastern United States. Prized for its uniform appearance and taste. Large easy to peel cloves. Excellent roaster.
FLAVOR: Not too hot and not too mild. Sweet when cooked.
DOG(Goldendoodle) – Not garlic and not for sale. But all the residents of Garlic Stone Farm insisted that Grady be on the website, so here he is! Grady loves to hang out by the garlic fields chasing black birds. He doesn’t have a prayer of catching one and they know it! Named after the famous Cleveland Indian outfielder, Grady Sizemore.
SOFTNECK GARLIC (Artichoke) – An heirloom garlic hailing from the Colville Indian Reservation in Inchelium, Washington. Part of the Slow Food USA Ark of Taste, a program seeking to preserve disappearing foods that possess unique flavors. Softly robust but not so strong as to be overpowering. Grows well in warm winter areas. Mid season harvest.
FLAVOR: Medium rich and medium hotness.
Excellent in mashed potatoes.
SOFTNECK GARLIC (Artichoke) – A rich flavored Italian garlic brought to the United States from by the Loiacono family in 1912. Smaller number of cloves but bigger and squarer in size than the typical softneck.
FLAVOR: Mild and sweet.
HARDNECK GARLIC (Purple Stripe) – An Italian garlic also known as “Gambino” and “Easy Peel”. Widely grown in the Ohio valley and Northeastern United States. Lovely purple and white stripes. Known for its full flavor but lack of sting.
FLAVOR: Strong, rich, and deep.
SOFTNECK GARLIC (Artichoke) – Called “Giant” for a reason; these big garlic bulbs can grow up to 4” across! This variety boasts the long storage characteristics of a softneck but the complex flavor of a hardneck. Originating in the Pacific NW. Does well in cold winter climates.
FLAVOR: Rich flavor with a medium hot after taste.
HARDNECK GARLIC (Rocambole)-We would like to think this garlic comes from Ireland but its origin is listed as unknown. This reliable performer grows uniform bulbs that can prove to be quite large. More tolerant of wet conditions than most garlic varieties which is probably proof positive of a Celtic origin!
FLAVOR: Rich, hot and strong.
HARDNECK GARLIC (Asian) – A zesty garlic that is the quintessential ingredient in a well made Kim Chee. Big bulb with big flavor and easy to peel cloves. Harvests early in the season. Suitable in all kinds of garlic dishes.
FLAVOR: Rich with a mellow warmth.
SOFTNECK GARLIC (Artichoke) – Heirloom garlic variety cultivated by the Lorz family. Imported from Italy during the late 19th century to the Columbia River Basin area of Washington state. Part of the Slow Food USA Ark of Taste, which is a program seeking to preserve disappearing foods that possess a unique taste. Stores well for 6-8 months.
FLAVOR: Hot and robust.
SOFTNECK GARLIC(Artichoke) – A Garlic Stone Farm EXCLUSIVE garlic! Now grown in the shadow of Lake Erie, but originally brought over the Atlantic from Italy by the Vaccariello family from the village of Matrice in the Campobasso region. Not the most attractive bulb but makes up for it in flavor. Deep brown clove skin. Perfect for red sauces.
FLAVOR: Rich, sweet and full bodied but not overpowering (a.k.a. “PERFECT!”)
HARDNECK GARLIC (Rocambole) –An heirloom garlic rescued from obscurity by Martin, a renowned gardener from Wisconsin. Prized for its size, hardiness, and beautiful purple and white skin.
FLAVOR: Full flavored and pleasant.
SOFTNECK GARLIC (Silverskin) – A beautiful garlic from the San Juan Islands of Washington State, this late harvester exemplifies the term: Stinking Rose. It boasts beauty and flavor. And as if that isn’t enough, it also stores well—up to a YEAR!
FLAVOR: Rich with medium heat.
HARDNECK GARLIC (Rocambole) – An heirloom garlic worth growing for the beautiful name alone. If you can’t wait to harvest your garlic, this variety is for you. First out of the ground. Reliable producer.
FLAVOR: Hot.
HARDNECK GARLIC (Purple Stripe) – A beautiful garlic from Siberia. Some believe the garlic plant itself originated in Siberia. Rumor has it that Siberian peasants who grew root crops traded this garlic for fish and the fisherman moved this garlic across the world. Clove skins are dark brown. Very high allicin levels, possibly the highest of all garlics. Allicin supports normal cholesterol levels, boosts the immune system and enhances circulation.
FLAVOR: Clean medium to strong flavored garlic that packs a lot of heat but it is not overpowering.
HARDNECK GARLIC(Turban) – A gorgeous Chinese garlic variety boasting a relatively small number of big cloves (6-8 cloves per bulb). Grows well in both hot and cold climates. Early maturing. Easy to peel. Stores 4-6 months.
FLAVOR: Earthy, sweet with moderate heat.
HARDNECK GARLIC (Rocambole) – An early harvesting garlic with large easy to peel cloves. Reliable producer with a high yield. Usually grows out picture perfect bulbs. Uniform bulb size and easy to peel.
FLAVOR: Full flavored with a bite and a hint of Old World smokiness.
SOFTNECK GARLIC (Artichoke) – This great garlic originated in a small village in the heart of the Transylvanian Mountains and was discovered in a Romanian Farmers’ Market in the mid-1990’s. Stores well. Keep it in your cupboard in a paper bag or in your nightstand if you’re worried about night time visitors. Smells divine when cooking and holds its flavor well in all kinds of dishes fresh or cooked.
FLAVOR: Excellent flavor with a bit of a bite!
HARDNECK GARLIC (Turban) – An outstanding garlic originating in China. Very early maturing. Gorgeous, deep red striped bulbs with fat cloves and shiny brown clove skins. You will not find a more beautiful garlic. Stores 5-6 months.
FLAVOR: Medium strong, zesty but not overly hot.
HARDNECK/SOFTNECK GARLIC – This pack includes a perfect mix of two of our favorite varieties, one is a hardneck garlic and the other softneck. You will receive 1/2 LB of each. This year we are offering German Porcelain as the hardneck variety. It consistently out performs all of our other varieties and is sure to become a staple in your garden. Its easy to grow and has a subtle flavor. Transylvania is the softneck variety. It has good flavor, produces large bulbs with many cloves and grows well in most places. We offer this sampler at a savings of $2/LB.
SOFTNECK GARLIC – In this garlic sampler pack, which is best suited for warmer climates, we include 1/2 LB of Inchelium Red garlic and 1/2 LB of California Early garlic. Inchelium Red is included in the Slow Food USA Ark of Taste, which is a program seeking to preserve the existence of unique foods that are in danger of disappearing from our cuisine. California Early possesses a mild taste, produces large bulbs and grows well in many areas.
HARDNECK GARLIC- Best garlic sampler for Northern climates. This pack includes 1/2 LB of Chesnok Red garlic and 1/2 LB of German Porcelain garlic. Both of varieties are coveted for their full flavor combined with an excellant ability to hold up to all kinds of cooking methods. Chesnok Red is often cited as the best all around garlic. HARDNECK GARLIC (Porcelain) – A Garlic Stone Farm EXCLUSIVE! On the open market for the first time this year, this garlic is thought to be a variant of the German Porcelain variety. It is slightly smaller with smaller but more numerous cloves. It still maintains the sought after qualities of German Porcelain: a subtle flavor and near flawless appearance. Named after the Amish region of Ohio from which it originates
FLAVOR: Subtle and mild.
HARDNECK GARLIC (Porcelain) – Porcelain garlics are the densest of all garlics and are generally large, therefore they provide the most bang for your buck from a healthy eating perspective with flavor to boot. Large easy to peel cloves.
